wiki: Morpheus (Greek: “Μορφεύς” – Morpheus, or “Μορφέας” – Morpheas, “shaper of dreams”, in Greek mythology is the god of dreams, leader of the Oneiroi. Morpheus has the ability to take any human form and is the one who shapes your dreams and the inhabitants within them. His true semblance is that of a winged daemon, imagery shared with many of his siblings

According to Hesiod, Nyx, the primordial goddess of the Night, produced the “tribe of Dreams” (φῦλον Ὀνείρων) parthenogenetically. Morpheus is the oldest of the four known as the Oneiroi, along with Icelus, Phobetor and Phantasos. The Oneiroi are attendants of Hypnos, the god of Sleep, bringing dreams to the mortals and gods who fall under the power of Sleep. Morpheus sees Hypnos as a father figure as Hypnos takes care of the other siblings

The land of dreams (δῆμος ὀνείρων) was located somewhere in the underworld, presumably near the domain of Night and her children. Poets often referred to the two gates leading from the dream realm. One gate was fashioned of sawn ivory, the other of polished horn. False dreams were said to pass through the gate of ivory, while truthful, prophetic dreams winged their way out through the gate of horn. There was also said to be a wilted elm tree in Morpheus’ domain, upon which the dreams fashioned by the Oneiroi hung, with the appearance of winged phantom-shapes…

  1. Very good Pelly. That is dreeeeeeeamy !! :D

  2. Your interpretation of this scene is perfect. I imagine this street art has been photographed by many passers-by but I bet in every case the photo would be just static; simply a rendition of art on a wall. You, however, have managed to bring the feeling of dreams, illusion and mayhem to it. This is wonderful.

    • Thank you so much Cedric. I always feel a bit awkward when I shoot artworks… I need to add something new to them, otherwise I feel like a thief or a recorder :D
