Sculptors use this method and put marks to calculate ratios and distances

Photo taken in the Tinian artists museum in Pyrgos. Tinos’ marble carving history began in antiquity. Local marble was used to create altars, temples and statues of gods in Delos and Tinos.

Nowadays Pyrgos is the center of marble carving. There is also a sculpture department of the School of Fine Arts
